Nurturing new life from the past

Welcome to SCULPT: Somatic-Creative-Urban-Landscape-Processing-Trauma. We are a transformative art and rehabilitation project in Minneapolis, Minnesota, dedicated to helping individuals transform past traumas into living gardens. Discover our unique approach to healing and growth.

Our mission

At SCULPT, our core mission is to transform trauma collages into beautiful wildflowers and vegetables. These unique creations are then placed into the Earth, where they grow beautiful flowers and nourishing vegetables. It's a powerful process of turning pain into life, fostering healing and regeneration within our communities.

Recoding trauma into sustenance

What truly sets SCULPT apart is our groundbreaking method of recoding trauma into actual food. We take the raw experiences of the past and literally compost them, mixing shredded visual art and writings with clay and seeds. This innovative approach allows participants to witness their past pain transform into tangible, life-sustaining growth. It's healing you can see, touch, and taste.

Healing through creative growth

SCULPT helps individuals, including inmates, by leveraging the concepts of creative release and neuroplasticity. Through the act of mulching, mixing, and sculpting, participants actively reinvent their bodies and minds. By growing food and flowers directly from their traumatic experiences, they engage in a profound form of self-transformation, creating a real difference in their lives and fostering a sense of purpose and renewal.
